Us
What is the Coalition's Mission? The Natural Trails and Waters Coalition works to protect and restore all public lands and waters from the damage caused by dirt bikes, jet skis and all other off-road vehicles. To achieve its mission, the Coalition is using a variety of legislative, administrative, legal, media, and grassroots strategies targeted at those who manage or make decisions or policies regarding our state and federal public lands. Why a National Off-Road Vehicle Coalition? The Coalition grew out of a shared recognition that motorized recreation--terrestrial and aquatic--is fast becoming one of the foremost threats to natural resources and social values on public lands. Over the past several years, a growing number of national, regional, and local organizations have collectively and independently utilized various strategies, with varying degrees of success, to deal with the problem. We formed the Coalition, in part, to bring together and strengthen these efforts. The Coalition is intended to complement, not substitute for, on-going work concerning off-road vehicle use on public lands and waters. Who's leading it? The Natural Trails and Waters Coalition is coordinated and directed by a nine member steering committee, with one representative from each of the following organizations -- American Hiking Society, American Lands Alliance, Bluewater Network, Colorado Mountain Club, Great Old Broads for Wilderness, Sierra Club, Southern Utah Wilderness Alliance, The Wilderness Society, and Wildlands CPR.
